Soooooo sneaky

Ok.... So we meet with the project manager and our main electrician who will be working on the house. I thought it was strange that we were able to meet with the electrician, but now I know why because they offered us a "one time change order with him". He brought these books with all these other options that Ryan never offered us.....recessed lights in the soffits outside, different lighting packages, some high tech gadget that dims and brightens lights in your kitchen according to your settings.. All with a nice touch pad!!! Pendants over the island, future tube for the house, ect ect..... Well we did a really good job saying no , but of course we broke and ended up with the pendants over the island, fireplace blower, 5.1 surround system in family room with in ceiling speakers and flood lights.....and I thought I was going to stay firm with NO MORE UPGRADES!!! Owell.... On a good note... There is a Victoria falls model in the next county over from us that we will be visiting this weekend..so get ready for some pics!!!

  1. I haven't heard of RH actually bringing in the electrician to do consulting on upgrades before. In a way, that's kinda cool.

Don't feel too badly about adding some more upgrades. Some of the electrical stuff is much more cost effective to add now than later (wiring for pendants, and those floodlights among them). My father is an electrical contractor; he walked the model with us and consulted on what to add now, as opposed to him doing it later. If you're interested, I wrote up a breakdown here: http://172waverly.blogspot.com/2012/04/electric.html

  3. I've never heard of that either! That sounds awesome! We chose our lighting options with our SR. I don't think we were ever offered a blower for the fireplace either. Don't feel bad about being at the top of your budget, we blew ours by $47,000!!

  5. Thanks for writing this post! It's always fun to hear about the process of building a house. It sounds like this was an exciting meeting. It's always good to know there are more possibilities than you really thought. It's a good thing for good electrical contractors in Victoria. It sounds like you got some good stuff coming your way!
